Philosophy
Davila-Villa & Stothart (dvs) works in partnership with artists and artist estates to build, strengthen, and sustain their careers and legacies.
We believe in the power and necessity of art in society, as well as the importance of building structures that allow artists to thrive independently and with lasting impact.
Founded in 2020 by Ursula Davila-Villa and Anna Stothart, our ethos is built upon trust, respect, and creativity.
What we do
We develop and reinforce the core pillars of an artist’s long-term impact: scholarly recognition, institutional visibility, and a strong, sustainable presence in the commercial market. Our work ensures that artists are positioned for immediate opportunities and enduring critical and historical relevance.
How we work
With more than 40 years of combined experience, we take a highly collaborative and tailored approach. Working closely with artists and their families, we define clear goals and create strategic, long-term plans aligned with each artist’s vision and values. Our methodology centers on practices that resist easy categorization, challenge established art historical narratives, and expand cultural discourse. Grounded in trust, respect, and creativity, we are rigorous advocates for artists while remaining attentive to the integrity of the work itself.
Who we work for
We champion artists whose contributions have been historically significant, if at times overlooked or deemed unconventional. We are especially committed to supporting those whose careers have unfolded outside traditional institutional pathways but whose work offers vital, alternative perspectives. By broadening audiences, deepening critical engagement, and increasing visibility, we work to ensure that their contributions are recognized as essential to the cultural record.
