Philosophy

Davila-Villa & Stothart was founded by Ursula Davila-Villa and Anna Stothart in 2020. Conceived from a mutual desire to support artists' independence and empowerment, we work towards the development and growth of the foundational pillars of an artist’s legacy: scholarly recognition, institutional visibility, and strength in commercial markets.

Drawing on over 40 years of combined experience, we are committed to supporting artists that have been historically sidelined and whose career trajectories may be considered unconventional. Our methodology brings sharp focus to practices that defy easy categorization within art historical canons and challenge artistic and social norms. In close collaboration with artists, we conceive of goals and develop plans that best serve them, their families, and, above all else, their art.

Our ethos is built upon trust, respect, and creativity. We believe in the power and necessity of art and are committed to engaging wider audiences, generating greater recognition, and expanding critical appraisal for alternative artistic perspectives on the world around us.
